Caribbean Storms

This is the one time of year it's not so fun to be in the Caribbean. Or, rather, to look at it differently--it's more exciting. We watch the weather brew off the coast of Africa and carefully track to see if anything blossoms into tropical depressions, storms or hurricanes. This past week, 3 storms came into play very quickly. 2 were slated right for St. John over the weekend: Ana and Hurricane Bill. Yesterday morning was nutso: lightening flickering across the sea before sunrise, winds picking up to gusty 30mph, rain spitting out, threatening clouds. Then within a few hours...it passed. Solitude. Sunshine. We cross our fingers, say a wish or prayer, make preparations as needed and roll forward hoping for the best. And as it looks now, both storms have passed on. One south of us, the other more out to sea. WHEW. After the fear passes, it's a wonderful relief and a great reminder that many times the horrid storms brewing up in our lives will pass by...you just need to prepare for what you can, say a wish or prayer, and roll forward.
